Excelsior! Symphonic Overture op 13

Add to calendar
The symphonic overture Excelsior! (“forward and upward”) was completed in the autumn of 1896 and premiered by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and famous conductor Arthur Nikisch on 28 December that same year!

The 25-year-old’s overture is sweeping music with influences by Wagner, but there is also much here that would turn out to be genuine Stenhammar.
