Morricone: Gabriel’s Oboe

Add to calendar
The beautiful melody, smooth and weightless, floats gracefully when the missionary Father Gabriel (Jeremy Irons) in the movie The Mission plays for the natives of South America.

A scene about music’s boundless ability to unite people. But beneath the surface, there is a hint of something disturbing, something ominous, which Ennio Morricone conveys with a sensitive hand between the notes. The solo part is played by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra’s oboist Mårten Larsson, backed by strings.
