This is how the recording with music by Másson and Gubaidulina came about. Roger Carlsson, principal percussionist and Santtu-Matias Rouvali, chief conductor tell about how the circumstances and a creative idea led to a veritable percussion party.

Roger Carlsson is a good friend of the Icelandic composer Áskell Másson and was the one who premiered Concert for snare drum in Iceland in 1982 – the first concert ever for snare drum! And for Santtu-Matias Rouvali, the return to percussion instruments evoked many memories from the past.
