Jazz in the Swedish way

Add to calendar
A concert production signed by the Göteborg Wind Orchestra where the orchestra meets Jan Lundgren Trio in tasteful and beautiful interpretations of Swedish folk tone, song and jazz. It is airy, dynamic and atmospheric in specially written orchestral arrangements that explore our Swedish folk music tradition in jazz vintage.

The pianist and composer Jan Lundgren is known for his lyrical, sensitive and swinging piano playing and has an ability to blend into many different contexts and genres. Jan Lundgren tours extensively throughout Europe and has recorded a large number of CDs. He is mentioned along with greats in jazz such as Oscar Peterson, Erroll Garner, Bud Powell and Bill Evans. Jan Lundgren and the legendary Bengt Hallberg found each other and played together for several years in appreciated duo concerts and recordings.

For many years, Jan Lundgren’s Trio also includes drummer Zoltán Csörsz Jr. and bassist Mattias Svensson, who sensitively merge into a single interplay of musical units. In collaboration with the Göteborg Wind Orchestra, the trio marries the orchestral sound and contributes to a powerful overall experience.

The arrangement of the beautiful sound are Martin Berggren, Calle Rasmusson, Anders Ekdahl, Sven Fridolfsson, Ann-Sofi Söderqvist and Christer Olofsson.

Göteborg Wind Orchestra is funded by the Västra Götaland region and the City of Gothenburg. Main sponsor: Göteborgs Spårvägar
