Piano Concert No 21

Immediately after the dramatic 20th Piano Concerto, Mozart immersed himself into the next, which would make a sharp contrast to the previous one.

No 21 in C Major is sublimely balanced, majestic and warm. Piano and orchestra melt together elegantly, but it is also one of his most virtuosic concerts. After the beautiful theme of the slow movement was used by Bo Widerberg in his 1967 movie, winning a Cannes Award, the piano concerto is often called “Elvira Madigan”.
