Symphony No 1

Love escaped Beethoven who, despite some love affairs, remained a bachelor.

That fate lay still in the future when, in 1800, as a 20-year-old youth with bright prospects, he wrote the first symphony – four movements of pure joy of life. Everything was still possible in the field of music and love and Beethoven let the emotions radiate through the symphony – something of both a tribute and a challenge to his teacher Joseph Haydn.
