A stroke of genius

Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Fabio Luisi conductor, Anne-Sophie Mutter violin

How do you round off four fantastic festival days? With a real “grand finale” of course!

In the spotlight: Anne-Sophie Mutter, the world-famous violinist with a long, brilliant career and unparalleled radiance. Together with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and its principal conductor Fabio Luisi, she offers Beethoven’s first Violin Romance and the Violin Concerto, one of the great beauties of classical music.

The final work of this year’s Point Music Festival is Carl Nielsen’s startling and dramatic fifth symphony – so modern that it shocked the audience at the Swedish premiere in 1924. But like many bold innovations, it has over the years turned into a classic, appreciated for its qualities and timelessness. Maybe the same fate awaits this festival’s world premières? One never knows. Welcome back in 2021!
