Göteborgs Konserthus Durations: Schubertbad

In collaboration with three composers, Ensemble Makadam has worked with time and space, sound and listening in various forms. In the work of the “concert installation” Durations, three compositions have emerged as well as ideas for lighting design and scenography. The project also includes concerts and lecture.

Durations can be experienced in the entrance hall in Gothenburg Concert Hall 4-10 September. During the same period, each composer will also get his work presented in full, with elements of the ensemble improvisations.

In addition to the concerts of composers, the ensemble performs two concerts with its own program content – including this concert – and so the journalist and author Magnus Haglund speaks of the importance of the room for listening.

Schubertbad is an example of how Makadam breaks up and comments on composed works with improvisation and fragmentation together with singer Avin Omar, where she assumes her Kurdish tradition. Here they have chosen works from Franz Schubert’s fantastic chamber music treasure.
