What a combination: one of the best cellists of our time in Prokofiev’s transgressive and almost unplayable Sinfonia Concertante with a steady stream of exciting parts and challenging solo escapades for Truls Mørk.

Russian music is the love of young conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali, a real bundle of energy, and his generous love extends to the neighbouring Czech Republic with Moldau by “Gothenburgian” Smetana – he lived and worked here from 1856 to 1861 – and the original Janáček whose music sounds like nothing else. His depiction of the adventures and inexorable end of cruel Cossack Taras Bulba is a must for all those in search of excitement.
