Orquesta Tangarte is a Swedish-Argentinian tango orchestra from Malmö. Bandoneon player Juanjo Passo, born in Buenos Aires, founded the orchestra back in 1999 and has cooperated with several of the world’s leading tango musicians.

As a genre, tango was born in the ports along the Rio de la Plata. It then emerged from the seediest back alleys to take over classy salons around the world. These past years, Orquesta Tangarte has performed at festivals across Scandinavia, Europe and South America.

Its music is rooted in the original Rio de la Plata tango, but the orchestra boasts a broad and varied repertoire that spans different styles and eras, from the 1940s to more contemporary tango. Their portfolio includes works by well-known composers like Villoldo, Canaro, Fresedo, Di Sarli, Troilo, Pugliese and Piazzolla.
