She was a very skilled Swedish textile artist who left her mark in several Swedish buildings as well as in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York and the ship M \/ S Stockholm. The artist Nils Wedel, whose painting Musicians hangs just inside the house&#8217;s entrance doors, is her brother.<\/p>\n<p>Inga Wedel studied at the Handicraft Association&#8217;s school in Gothenburg 1916-1920 and then worked for M\u00e4rta M\u00e5\u00e5s-Fjetterstr\u00f6m, followed by further studies at Handarbetets friends in Stockholm in 1924. From the mid-1920s until 1930 she made several study trips to England, Germany , Italy, Belgium and France. She was awarded the Swedish Handicraft Association&#8217;s scholarships in 1924 and 1929.<\/p>\n<p>She was artistic director of Bohussl\u00f6jd 1937-1942 and exhibited at R\u00f6hsska konstsl\u00f6jdmuseet 1929 together with Karna Asker (later married Asker-Ericson) and Betty Asker (later married Kylberg), as well as 1930 together with Louise Adelborg. Together with Alice and Nils Wedel, she exhibited at Malm\u00f6 City Hall in 1937.<\/p>\n<p>For the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, she made a number of rugs in 1932, as well as for the Scandinavian Bank&#8217;s boardroom in Gothenburg. She also designed textiles for the Vattenfall Board in Stockholm. During the construction of M \/ S Stockholm in 1935, she was involved as a textile consultant and had to carry out a number of carpets for the ship.
