She has a gift for redefining both the sonic and conceptual aspects. And Anders Hillborg&#8217;s harmonic expanses open up a world of new dimensions of indefinable beauty.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gso.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/gso-242508039-1920x1254px.jpg\" alt=\"Johan Stern, cello - s\u00e4song 2024-2025\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1254\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mahler\u2019s Symphony No. 2 is a symphony of unearthly beauty where in each performance, you find yourself in the midst of the composer&#8217;s voice. Last time it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gso.se\/en\/children-youth\/play-and-sing-with-us\/vagus\/\">V\u00c4GUS<\/a> and Kim Phipps who delivered an incredible version, with the young choir singers in the fifth movement entering the hall singing &#8220;Be not afraid! Be prepared to live!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And in Dudamel&#8217;s farewell concert in 2012, when we turned the last page, it felt as if someone ripped the heart out of my body.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Johan Stern, cello - s\u00e4song 2024-2025\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Dr0qHaTpYyA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In an intense rehearsal with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Herbert Blomstedt a few years ago, he suddenly said, &#8220;I am moved when I think about how everyone contributes to coming together \u2013 how lips form, hands grip, reeds vibrate, and strings are bowed; all to create music together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I often think about this quote in our constant pursuit of a collective result; that the unity of sound actually consists of many small, fragile parts.
