The piano is a keyboard instrument with strings, originating in the 18th century. The two most common types are the upright piano and the grand piano. When the pianist presses the keys, hammers strike the strings to produce the sound. The keyboard instrument family also includes instruments such as the celesta, organ, harpsichord and synthesiser.
Our orchestra has one pianist.
