Together with the cornet, which is slightly smaller, the trumpet has the highest register of the brass instruments. As with all brass instruments, sound is produced by placing the lips against the mouthpiece and blowing so that they vibrate. The trumpet has a penetrating sound and is often played alongside trombones and horns. Together, these instruments create a powerful sound.
Our orchestra has four trumpet players.
