Göteborgs Konserthus Culture Evening: The Gothenburg Sound

Hear the story of The Gothenburg Sound, the melodic death metal that went from underground to world success. The music put Gothenburg on the rock map forever with the bands At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity and In Flames in the foreground.  

This evening is dedicated to amplified guitars, growl and a solid song library. In December, a new chapter in music history will be written when the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra interprets the bands’ epic songs in three concerts. Author Mattias Lindeblad talks to our host Johan Hilton about the music. 

An evening for both already die-hard death metal fans and for the curious – for those who want to get a new perspective on Gothenburg’s modern musical heritage. The Gotheburg Sound is close to both Swedish folk music and traditional classical music, with melancholy, long melodies and a varied expression where the raw and the sweet meet.
