Experience American visionary Aaron Parks, one of the most influential pianists of modern jazz. He makes jazz for our time, combining everything from hip hop to rock and bebop. Performing this evening with Cornelia Nilsson on drums.
Aaron Parks was the multi-talented prodigy who chose music over maths and computer science. Today, he is considered one of the most influential pianists of modern jazz, a visionary who makes “jazz for the new century.”
Aaron Parks caught the attention of major names early on; they all heard something unique. On his own, he has continued to refine his intuitive ability to transcend musical genres. His distinctive sound combines electronica and hip hop, hints of early Keith Jarrett and creative rock band Radiohead. Just as naturally, bebop is paired with minimalism or Eastern loops – and all of it is infused with traces of the airy sound that is the signature of record label ECM.
The Aaron Parks Trio includes Swedish drummer Cornelia Nilsson, who has already played with legends like Ron Carter and Kenny Barron. With drumming that is both expressive and technically brilliant, she is a natural partner.
