Hear compelling and swinging interpretations of masterpieces composed by J.S. Bach. Gothenburg-based trio Bach Jazz have touched audiences’ hearts with this new take on elegant Baroque music.
J.S. Bach is the genius behind Air, Mass in B Minor, St. John Passion and many other masterpieces. Preludes, partitas, sarabandes – there are many works and even more interpretations. Emil Carlsson Rinstad, bass player Magnus Bergström, and drummer Ola Winkler have mastered the material completely.
The music magazine Lira referred to their debut album as the “chamber jazz of the year.” “Suddenly Bach sounds like a Nordic composer and his fugues like folk songs,” added Swedish newspaper DN. And echoes of Jan Johansson’s sound are as present as the immediately recognizable notes of Bach.
The careful improvisations are more of an addition to or comment on Bach than full-scale reconstructions. Utterly open and warm, thoughtful and exploratory, time and again, they present new aspects of Bach’s infinite starry sky.
