Anything can happen when trombone player Karin Hammar and her Fab 4 take the stage. In this combo with acclaimed trumpet player Hildegunn Øiseth, she delivers deeply swinging and exploratory jazz that is full of surprises.
Norwegian trumpet player Hildegunn Øiseth works worldwide and is able to evoke a swinging sound from an ancient bockhorn. She has collaborated with percussionist Marilyn Mazur, Radiojazzgruppen and the Bohuslän Big Band when not leading her own quartet.
Karin Hammar is one of Sweden’s top trombone players, known from numerous TV shows and her own ensembles Sliding Hammers and Karin Hammar Good Vibe. Here, she is at the helm of the Fab 4 with guitarist Andreas Hourdakis, bass player Pär-Ola Landin and drummer Fredrik Rundqvist.
In an interview with magazine Orkester Journalen, Karin Hammar said: “The best thing about jazz is that feeling of freedom – you can just about play however you want.” In other words, an evening with Karin Hammar Fab 4 and Hildegunn Øiseth is an evening where anything can happen.
