Three composers, three dramatic destinies – Fanny Mendelssohn, Felix Mendelssohn and Robert Schumann. Here with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the brilliant Russian violinist Alina Pogostkina.

Fanny Mendelssohn was talented, but being a woman it was not possible for her to become a musician. Felix Mendelssohn struggled to achieve success and did finally become hugely successful, but burned out and died at the age of 38. And Schumann, hypersensitive and volatile, at times incredibly inspired and productive until he lapsed permanently into insanity. And yet, they created lasting works of beauty that are full of joy and happiness, here with the Royal Philharmonic and the brilliant Russian violinist Alina Pogostkina.
