Enjoy the very best of classical music with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra – Sweden’s National Orchestra. Bring a friend to Götaplatsen and experience Beethoven’s iconic Fifth Symphony with Stephanie Childress! Free admission.
Few classical works are as famous as the start of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, where fate knocks on the door. Experience the entire powerful symphony at the Gothenburg Festival 2026 with a full orchestra on the Götaplatsen main stage under the direction of the shooting star Stephanie Childress. Only 27 years old, she has put major orchestras in Europe and the USA under her feet.
Before that, we hear music by film genius Nino Rota. In addition to epic soundtracks, he also wrote orchestral music in the same adventurous style. His trombone concerto from 1966 is one of the instrument’s foremost solo works. As soloist, we will hear the Symphony Orchestra’s own Endre Rydland Vetås.
The concert opens with Mozart’s joyful overture from The Marriage of Figaro, full of promises of love and intrigue.

Experience Göteborgskalaset from the beautiful Götaplatsen Foyer at the Concert Hall, with unbeatable views of the stage on Götaplatsen. Open all four days!
