The most popular ballet classic of all time, Swan Lake, contains all the elements that made classical ballet famous. A fairytale story with sumptuous scenography and dance, and with immortal music by Tchaikovsky. Of the music, it is mainly “Dance of the little swans” that has become known and loved by a large audience. In classical ballet, and especially in Swan Lake, music and dance merge into a language spoken by all.

The Grand Ukrainian Ballet consists of star soloists who joined the ensemble and is today one of the leading ballet companies. The story revolves around the bewitched swan princess who can only be freed from the evil wizard’s spell through true love. Prince Siegfried is expected to marry a suitable girl to carry on his dynasty. He falls in love not with any of the girls who would be a good match, but with a strange girl, Odette, who enchants him with her beauty. Siegfried swears eternal love to Odette. The curse that rests on Odette means that she can only take human form for a few hours each night. The evil sorcerer sees his chance, he lets his own daughter go to a party at the castle in the guise of Odette to trick the prince. The plan succeeds and the blinded prince unknowingly breaks his oath of allegiance. When Siegfried realizes he has been tricked, he begs Odette to forgive him, and she does.
