Relaxed Performance A concert with a little more freedom

A Relaxed Performance is a concert format designed to make classical music more accessible. Both performers and audience share an understanding, and everyone – regardless of temperament, age or disability – is welcome to experience the concert in their own way.

During the performance, you are welcome to move around, come and go, and respond naturally to the music. Sound and lighting levels may be adjusted, and there is usually the option to take a break if needed.

Most Relaxed Performances are approximately 45 minutes long. This is stated on the concert page.

The doors open 30 minutes before the concert begins.

Relaxed Performances are designed to make classical concerts more accessible for people whose needs can make a traditional concert setting difficult to navigate, while remaining open to everyone who appreciates a more flexible concert experience.

It’s absolutely fine if you need to take a break during the concert.

During a Relaxed Performance, sounds, movement, and spontaneous reactions are a natural part of the experience.

Speak to our ushers on site and they will assist you directly.

If you arrive late, you may need to wait before entering until there is a suitable break in the program.

Hearing protection is unfortunately not available on site, please bring your own.

A wheelchair ramp is available from Stenhammarsgatan.

The cloakroom is directly adjacent to the space, which has an open-plan layout with room for wheelchair users.

Accessible toilets are available in direct connection to the area.

The main entrance to the Concert Hall is located at Götaplatsen.

For wheelchair users or if you prefer to avoid stairs, there is a ramp from Stenhammarsgatan. From there, you can take a lift up to the entrance hall and the box office.

Automatic door openers are available by the display cases near the entrance.

Yes, preferably well in advance. This allows us to prepare the spaces before the audience is admitted and ensure everything runs smoothly when you arrive.

The attendant ticket is free, provided that you are accompanied during the entire visit. For safety reasons, all guests who have not purchased wheelchair spaces must be able to get in and out of the halls themselves – on their own or with the help of an attendant.

The Grand Hall and the The Stenhammar Hall are equipped with a wireless hearing system (IR), which can be used with compatible hearing aids.

If your hearing aid is not compatible, receivers with headphones are available to borrow. The equipment is free of charge and can be collected on site.

Our foyer staff will be happy to help you get set up and answer any questions before the performance.
