On the World Environment Day, there will be a world premiere of a new song cycle by Adrian Eriksson on poems by Harry Martinson on Sustainability – and Light and Darkness.

The World Environment Day is celebrated every year on the 5th of June. This year it is also 50 years since the very first global conference on human environment held in Stockholm 1972. In connection to this there is a world premiere of Light and Darkness, for voice and ensemble, on poems on the climate change by the Swedish author and poet Harry Martinson. Martinson with his unique ability to describe the nature and our modern life, makes us reflect on one of our biggest challenges of our times.

In addition, the piano piece Frozen Waters and one movement from the bass concerto Man against nature are performed with live-synchronised video, each representing the Light and the Darkness.

Do we want to leave behind a world full of light, or a world of darkness? By meeting at this concert, we can together reflect on the future of our planet. As Harry Martinson writes: “The great sorrow all of us must share. Then it will be possible to bear.”

In connection to the concert there will also be a photo exhibition in the foyer on sustainability and light and darkness.

With support from KulturUngdom.
