Every February, during the school holiday, young musicians aged approximately 11–19 come together to form a symphony orchestra at Gothenburg Concert Hall. Join us!
During rehearsals, you’ll receive coaching from professional musicians and music educators, explore the classical symphonic repertoire and develop your ensemble playing skills. It’s an exciting opportunity to improve your musical abilities and meet other young people who share your passion for music.
The orchestra is led by conductors Ron Davis Alvarez and János Alexander Madaras.
Applications are open until Sunday 17 January, with places offered on a rolling basis. As places are limited, we recommend applying as early as possible.
There are two levels:
- Sports Holiday Orchestra (Sportlovsorkestern, SLO), from approximately age 13, 24 January and 13–16 February.
The orchestra has one preparatory rehearsal, followed by four intensive days during the sports holiday, culminating in a concert in the Great Hall at Gothenburg Concert Hall. To apply, you need to submit a video of yourself performing a piece of music. Further instructions are available in the application form. - Sports Holiday Orchestra Junior (strings only), approximately ages 11–14, 24 January and 15–16 February.
The Junior Orchestra has one preparatory rehearsal, followed by two shorter rehearsal days during the sports holiday, with slightly less challenging parts. The Junior Orchestra then joins the Sports Holiday Orchestra to perform together at the final concert in Gothenburg Concert Hall.
