Be a part of the Sports Holiday Orchestra. Every year in February, young musicians aged 12-19 gather in Gothenburg Concert Hall to form a symphony orchestra together.

During the rehearsals, the participants are coached by musicians from the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra as they become acquainted with the classical symphonic repertoire and develop their skills together. The Sports Holiday Orchestra is a guaranteed energy boost and a great way to meet and get to know other people who also love music. We hope you will join us!

The conductors are Marjolein Vermeeren, flautist in Gothenburg Symphony and frequently conductor at the Side by Side music camp, among others, and Ron Davis Alvarez, Gothenburg-based award-winning pedagogue and conductor with assignments all over the world and conductor and artistic director of Side by Side. They make sure that every last detail is fine tuned prior to the grand finale – a concert in the Stora salen!

The Sports Holiday Orchestra 2024

The Sports Holiday Orchestra is aimed at you who have been playing your instrument for a while, and want to continue developing. You can take the opportunity to lead younger fellow musicians if you have progressed a bit further, or the Sportlovsorkester can be a perfect forum for you who want to play in a full symphony orchestra for the first time.

The repertoire is partially adapted to be played by participants of different levels at the same time. Talk to your instrument teacher to see if it’s the right level for you!
