Competition proposal for the decoration of the Gothenburg Concert Hall in connection with the construction in 1935, painted by Sven X-et Erixson (1899-1970). The oil painting is located outside Stenhammarsalen. The somewhat confused Näcken sits by its waterfall, but modern times have entered and replaced the tranquility of the forest with a thundering dammed waterfall.

Sven X-et Erixson (1899-1970)

Painter and sculptor. The X’s images have their roots in a naive and narrative tradition. In his colorful depictions of the city and his work, he made himself known in the 1930s. Many of his lithographs were widely distributed through Konstfrämjandet’s publishing during the 1940s and onwards.

Education: Stockholm School of Technology, Stockholm Academy of the Arts. Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts 1943-53. Public works: Chapel of the Holy Cross, Skogskyrkogården Stockholm, Uppsala City Theater, Huddinge City Hall, etc. Represented: Nationalmuseum, Moderna Museet, Waldemarsudde, Göteborgs konstmuseum, Statens Museum för Konst in Copenhagen, Nasjonalgalleriet Oslo, and more.
