At the centenary celebration of Finland’s declaration of independence, Finnish Music is of course on the programme – Sibelius, Wennäkoski and Rautavaara, and both conductor, soloist and presenter has origin in our dear neighbor in the east.

It is with pride and joy that our neighbor Finland celebrates the 100th anniversary of its declaration of independence on December 6, 1917. Sweden and Finland have for centuries shared history in everything from war to solidarity and political cooperation. Together with the Finnish Consulate General in Göteborg, the Gothenburg Symphony will commemorate Finland’s 100-year history as an independent state through Finnish music reflecting parts of the country’s cultural development.
