Goran Kajfes Subtropic Arkestra

Enter a subtropical landscape with influences from across the globe. With a blend of post-rock and cosmic jazz, trumpet player Goran Kajfeš is a unique feature of the Swedish music scene.

“A fresh breeze of disruption and seduction.” This is how trumpet player Goran Kajfeš was described by newspaper Dagens Nyheter in the motivation for his 2025 Culture Prize nomination.

In May 2026 he returned to Gothenburg Concert Hall, this time with his jazz collective Subtropic Arkestra. They are joined by Swedish singer Avin Omar and major Swedish jazz musicians such as saxophone players Jonas Kullhammar and Per “Ruskträsk” Johansson, pianist Jesper Nordenström, guitarist Reine Fiske, bassist Johan Berthling and drummer Johan Holmegard. The final album in the band’s The Reason Why trilogy won a Grammis Award in 2018, and they have earned praise from the press and audiences worldwide.

The group’s jazz fusion sound knows no limits, moving freely between nations, musical styles and eras.
