The National Day Concert
Add to calendarSince 1984, Gothenburg citizens have been looking forward to and visited the concert in Slottsskogen with Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra on Sweden’s National Day. A lovely tradition in the company of family and friends to relax and enjoy the music and picnic basket in the green park. This year, it has not been possible to make the concert in public – but it will be a concert anyway!
Welcome to a special concert recorded for GSOplay with the conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali full of beautiful summer atmosphere. The concert also includes the Gothenburg Symphony’s Vocal Ensemble led by Alexander Einarsson, two soloists: the orchestra’s first concertmaster Sara Trobäck, violin, and clarinetist Tekla Nilsson, winner of the Polstjärnepriset 2020, as well as Härlanda boy’s choir, conductor Birgitta Mannerström-Molin and dancers from Regionteater Väst – choreographer Monika Milocco. The program features orchestral music by Stenhammar, Sibelius, Grieg, Mozart, Lehár, and Beethoven. As well as choral music, brass music and folk music.
Ciceron is Tomas von Brömssen, the actor and comedian who in many ways embodies the typical Gothenburg citizen. If we are lucky he might be playing too.
