Hear a new take on Vivaldi’s energetic seasons and Schumann’s imaginative Piano Concerto. Conductor Kent Nagano leads the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra together with acclaimed pianist Rudolf Buchbinder.
Fresh and captivating music for a celebration! The evening begins with celebrated pianist Rudolf Buchbinder, who is now back in Gothenburg. With magical hands, he plays Robert Schumann’s imaginative and only Piano Concerto. It reflects Schumann’s longing for his future wife.
Aziza Sadikova, Uzbek who resides in Berlin, has her own unique musical language. A Baroque spirit hovers over her rhythmic work Farbenzeiten, which is a paraphrasing of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Here, the well-known notes gain new colour and sparkle with poppy melodies. As soloists, we hear a quartet from the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. Like the premiere in 2024, this performance is led by Kent Nagano, former principal guest conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
Highly regarded concert pianist Rudolf Buchbinder has met audiences from stages in South Africa, Finland, Japan, Mexico and everywhere in between. He is particularly appreciated for his interpretations of Beethoven’s piano works, to which he adds his own distinctive touch. Dazzling and imaginative!
Have a seat in the Great Hall an hour before the concert and let the introduction open the door to the stories behind the works, facts about the composers and personal reflections. The introduction is included in your ticket, lasts about 30 minutes and has free seating in the hall.
