No doubt, many concertgoers will be shouting out “At last!”, when the Symphony Orchestra takes on Beethoven’s fifth, and icon among symphonies.

But don’t miss Bartók’s youthful Violin Concerto No. 1, a declaration of love, or the fascinating Music for Orchestra by German genius Rudi Stephan, who died during World War I, aged only 28.

Introduction to the concert on May 11th at 6.30 p.m. with Jennifer Downing Olsson, Gothenburg Symphony contrabassist.
