Information from Blagoj Lamnjov:

In this intimate concert ambience, Macedonian-Swedish clarinetist Blagoj Lamnjov ( Blago J ) pushes the limits of the clarinet, blending the Macedonian folk music with the sensibility of the western classical clarinet sound. Influenced by both musical genres in combination with his true feelings, Blagoj’s music style delivers a full-of-emotions concert experience, a closer look at the clarinet as an instrument, as well as a more familiar image of this Balkan country, creating a bridge between the old and the modern world.

On stage:
Blagoj Lamnjov, klarinett
Peter Bohlin, gitarr

Based in Sweden, Blagoj Lamnjov is a classically trained clarinetist educated in Sweden, the USA and his native Macedonia. He has worked for many of the cultural houses in Sweden: Malmö Operan, Stockholm Stadsteatern , Helsingborgs Symfoniorkestern, Cirkus Cirkör. He has appeared as a soloist with Norrköpings Symfoniorkester multiple times.

In 2004, at the age of 21, Blagoj leaves Macedonia, the college and his already established wedding-music career. He decides to move to Sweden to study at Musikhögskolan i Malmö. Now he focuses only on classical music and even starts applying classical elements in his folk music. “I decided to try something different with the Macedonian folk music. Everything I would learn in the classical music lessons, I would immediately apply to the Macedonian folk songs in my free time. I began treating them as if they were composed by classical music composers. I experimented, recorded and listened to myself. I analyzed opera singers and tried to imagine how they would interpret these folk songs in a classical music style. Eventually I found my way of expressing my feelings through the clarinet. I was carefully developing my style for 14 years, and finally I felt mature and ready to record my music and start performing it at concerts, says Blagoj.
His first album “Nostalgic Love” was released in 2019.

Blagoj holds bachelors degree in classical music from the Malmö Academy of Music (Lund’s University), as well as a Performance Diploma from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. He has also studied one year at Michigan State University and one year at DePaul University in the USA.

Blagoj did his first tour at the age of 13 as a part of a folk dance and music group from his hometown, and has performed in Europe, China, Japan, the USA and Canada.
