Göteborgs Konserthus Mad Songs

A dizzying journey from the Renaissance to present day, with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and mezzo-soprano Tora Augestad.

Concert length: 2 h Scene: Stora salen
370-530 SEK Student 185-265 SEK

An evening with music on the theme of madness, from the Renaissance to present day. Based on and inspired by Henry Purcell’s Mad Songs, the visiting Norwegian Chamber Orchestra takes us on a dizzying journey where works by Kurt Weill and Luciano Berio meet contemporary compositions. Together with soloist Tora

Augestad, the orchestra shows how Baroque music can be performed like a cabaret show, and how pop music can be made to sound like something from a bygone era.

Since its formation in 1977, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra has established itself as one of the foremost chamber orchestras on the international classical music scene. Renowned for its refined sound and innovative approach to concert presentation, the NCO consists of Norway’s finest instrumentalists, including its 21 core members who work together as a collective.
