Homayoun Shajarian is considered to be one of the foremost Persian classical vocalists. Together with his band, the Iranian superstar has released a number of albums and made guest appearances at many international concert halls and festivals. Shajarian last visited the Gothenburg Concert Hall in 2016. This concert features a wonderful mix of classical Persian and western music.
Homayoun Shajarian grew up in a well-known family of musicians and is also a brilliant instrumentalist. His father, who was a renowned master of the traditional vocal technique, has had a major influence on Persian music as an art form. When he was five, Shajarian started playing the tombak (a Persian hand drum) and then moved onto the kamancheh (a Persian bowed string instrument), which was his main instrument while studying at the Tehran Conservatory of Music.
The concert is arranged in collaboration with Riksteatern.
