An ever-changing repertoire has played a key role in maintaining singer Anne Sofie von Otter's international profile - from an early role as the magnificent Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier, to her acclaimed portrayal of Leonora in the world premiere of Thomas Adès' The Exterminating Angel. Highlights of recent years include Madame de Croissy (Dialogues des carmélites) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro) in Christof Loy's production at the Bayerische Staatsoper, L'Opinion Publique (Orpheus in the Underworld) at Salzburger Kochet's new production at the Salzburger Festskyspiele, Mérope (Oedipe) at the Opéra National de Paris, and the lead role as Charlotte Andergast in Sebastian Fagerlund's Höstsonaten for the Finnish National Opera. With an unrivaled and multiple award-winning discography, mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter's versatility has resulted in collaborations with a number of greats in classical music as well as pop and jazz; from Carlos Kleiber, Claudio Abbado and Giuseppe Sinopoli to Elvis Costello, Brad Mehldau and Rufus Wainwright. In the 2022-2023 season, von Otter further expanded her repertoire with productions of Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades at La Monnaie under Nathalie Stutzmann and Strauss' Arabella at Teatro Real Madrid under David Afkham, as well as a reprise of Countess Geschwitz in Theater an der Wien's new production of Berg's Lulu , conducted by Maxime Pascal. Von Otter is equally recognized as a concert and recital singer with a diverse repertoire that includes Mahler, Berlioz, Bach and Kurt Weill. Her Lieder recordings range from classics by Schubert, Schumann, Wolf and Mahler to lesser-known collections by Cécile Chaminade, Korngold, Peterson-Berger and Stenhammar.
