Just in time for Christmas, we get to enjoy world-renowned mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter and her Christmas favorites in a wonderful exposé. She has pianist Leif Kaner Lidström and guitarist Fabian Fredriksson with her.
Ever since her debut in Basel in 1983, Anne Sofie von Otter has continuously demonstrated her star quality. She was appointed court singer in 1995 and has received numerous awards and also a royal medal for her artistic work. Nothing is foreign to her artistic knowledge, she sings 17th century music with the same sincerity as ABBA songs. Her great curiosity has led her to interpret songs from both the jazz and pop worlds in notable collaborations with greats such as Elvis Costello and jazz pianist Brad Meldau.
The secret lies in her unfailing taste and ability to use her voice in different ways. On one hand in great heavy opera works, on the other hand in the very simplest tune.
