Keyboard virtuoso Manfred Mann returns to Gothenburg to treat the audience to timeless song treasures and exuberant playing pleasure with his band!
Information from KB West:
The South African musician made a breakthrough in the 60s with the pop group that bore his name. Despite the success, Mann – who is originally a jazz musician – wanted to free himself from the commercial pop scene. In 1969, he therefore started the experimental jazz rock project Manfred Mann Chapter Three. The group disbanded after only two albums, and in 1971 Mann instead took the initiative to form Manfred Mann’s Earth Band.
With the Earth Band, he continued to develop his jazz-influenced expression, characterized by his characteristic Moog synth, but mixed it with classical elements and a progressive style. The big breakthrough came in 1977 with their acclaimed interpretation of Bruce Springsteen’s Blinded by the Light. The band is also behind hits such as Davy’s on the Road Again, Spirit in the Night, For You, Runner and a new version of Bob Dylan’s Mighty Quinn – a song that Manfred Mann originally had a big hit with back in 1968.
We are extremely happy to once again welcome this legend to Gothenburg, and look forward to a successful evening of musical passion!
