On June 5, the audience is invited to an exclusive evening with one of the most notable voices in the Afghan music scene. Mir Khan Moqori will give his first international concert together with a full live band in a unique production where modernity meets tradition.

On June 5, the audience is invited to an exclusive evening with one of the most notable voices in the Afghan music scene. Mir Khan Moqori will give his first international concert together with a full live band in a unique production where modernity meets tradition.
Through YouTube, Mir Khan Moqori has achieved great popularity with songs that revolve around homesickness, identity and exile – themes that tie into the concert series The Forbidden Melodies.
The evening begins with a short stage and conversation segment and then transitions into a concert without intermission of approximately 2.5 hours. With a combination of Afghan traditional instruments and Western instruments, a unique soundscape is created where musical heritage meets contemporary times.

The concert is part of the concert series The Forbidden Melodies, which is carried out with support from the Postcode Lottery Foundation in collaboration with Dera Studio and Evolving Traditions.
Afghanistan is today the only country in the world where music is banned. In this performance, Afghan music is given new life through a stage production where melodies that are no longer allowed to be played in their country of origin meet new musical expressions and arrangements.
