With the motto “More than a competition,” Polstjärnepriset is a unique initiative and a national meeting place for talented young classical musicians. It is a forum at which young musicians can meet like-minded individuals, put their technical and stage skills to the test in the various parts of the competition – and above all, have the opportunity to learn from a renowned group of instructors. In parallel with the competition, a class is held that is open to musicians up to age 20. A total of approximately 60 young people participate in Polstjärnepriset each year.
Through individual teaching, masterclasses, and playing in chamber and orchestral ensembles, participants in the class and competition have the opportunity to grow as musicians, both individually and in groups. First everyone meets for four days over the autumn holiday to get to know one another, learn, and rehearse together. The next meeting is the first week in January, when the focus is on the competition, which has three phases, and preparations for the concerts. The highlight is the final concert at Gothenburg Concert Hall.
Polstjärnepriset is arranged by Nationellt centrum för musiktalanger.
