Hear the young, Polish bass player in swinging standards as well as her own compositions. With roots in jazz and funk, Kinga Głyk has an online audience of millions.
This young, star Polish bass player has reached millions of listeners on social media. Swing is always front and centre for her, but her roots are in jazz, blues, fusion, funk and R&B. Still, there is space here for melodic tunes and breakneck improvisations.
Simply put, Kinga Głyk is a phenomenon. She began touring at age 12 and released her debut record at age 18, and has now released a total of five albums. The latest is Real Life from 2024, in collaboration with Snarky Puppy bassist Michael League.
She was influenced early on by bass legends Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius and Marcus Miller and quickly developed her own virtuosic style, equal parts physical and lyrical. For her, it’s a short step from her own songs to versions of Jaco Pastorius’ arrangement of Charlie Parker’s Donna Lee, Lennie Tristano’s quick-paced Lennie’s Pennies and Eric Clapton’s emotional ballad Tears in Heaven. A star who gives versatility a fresh face!
