Singer, guitarist and songwriter Shishani is loved for her soft yet powerful voice. Her roots are in Namibia and Belgium, but she grew up in Holland. Her music combines these worlds with influences from Afro-American and African music.

Her songs are delightfully groovy, and the lyrics often deal with social issues. German Debby Korfmacher on the thumb piano (mbira) and string instrument kora, Hungarian cellist Bence Huszar, and percussionist Sjahin During are all in her band.

Together, these versatile musicians create a rhythmic and seductive sound that is inviting, refreshing, and completely their own. Shishani means “crown” in Oshiwambo, one of Namibia’s indigenous languages.

The concert is part of the Planeta Festival 31 october 31-4 november – with dance and music from all over the world – a perfect partner for the World in the Concert Hall.
