The favorite concert for choir lovers! Choirs in Concert gathers all choir participants from the international music camp Side by Side in a choir concert with over 300 young singers of all ages on stage! The concert is held in the Great Hall together with musicians from the Gothenburg Symphony and concludes the camp for most of Side by Side’s choirs.

The youth choirs present newly written music a capella. There will be music by the super hot American composer Caroline Shaw whose tone poem is about the Statue of Liberty as a symbol for those in exile. Hreiðar Ingi Thorsteinsson’s powerful song about the Red Knight brings us to Icelandic adventures. And from Australian singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke we get the emotional Our Song, now performed in a choral arrangement.

The concert also includes modern choral favorites by composers such as Ola Gjeilo and Karl Jenkins, whose mega-hit Adiemus has become an anthem for Side by Side.

It will also be an opportunity to pay tribute to Georg Riedel’s work for choral music and music for children and young people. Choirs in Concert is led by Birgitta Mannerström Molin and Ida Rosén Hamrå. We hear string musicians from the Gothenburg Symphony as well as pianists Daniel Lindén and Emma Runegård.

The international music camp Side by Side is organized by Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and is open to participants 6-23 years old. At Side by Side, children, and young people from all over the world gather to play and sing together, side by side with professional musicians. The camp promotes classical music and builds bridges between people, cultures, and continents.

28 November 2023 Göteborg har fått sitt eget sound

Musik för ett barn kan vara den transformerande effekten, katalysatorn för att drömma. Men också motivationen att bygga vackra minnen.
