The Groove, with Kjell Jansson, Anders Kjellberg and Björn Cedergren, provides us with powerful, swinging, lyrical and dark blues music. Extension means that the trio is enhanced with Bror Gunnar Jansson, Stina Jansson, Tommy Kotter, Vanessa Liftig and Emma Augustsson. In different types of groupings they merge lyrics and music to form something completely new and completely irresistible.

At its core, The Groove Extension provides us with hard-swinging jazz and a touch of blues – but with scope for open improvisations, poetry set to music or spoken word where the situation calls for it. This is energetic music that takes its roots from Coltrane, Rollins and Ellington and is not afraid of pure freedom or lyrical elements. But it also provides scope for poetry from the likes of Nils Ferlin and Kent Andersson, as well as spoken word with regard to the alarming global situation and the accelerating climate crisis.

Together, The Groove Extension will play music mainly from the group’s two latest albums The Groove Extension and The Groove Extension II with music by Kjell Jansson. An experience that takes hold and doesn’t let go!

The concert is dedicated to everyone who is committed to the environment, justice and human rights.
