Tower of Power – the immortal heart of funk and soul – is coming back to Gothenburg! Age limit 13 years
Information from KB West:
For over 57 years, Tower of Power has stood as an unwavering giant in the world of funk and soul – a band whose energy, precision and unique swing still make floors vibrate and hearts beat in time.
The journey began modestly as the soul band The Motowns. Emilio Castillo remembers it well:
“Rocco was the bassist, I was there and my brother played drums. When I met ‘Doc’ Kupka in 1968, everything changed, and soon Tower of Power was born, with one goal: to create something bigger than ourselves.”
And so it was. A few years later, they had their big break with Bump City – the album that gave us immortal classics like “You’re Still a Young Man” and “Down to The Nightclub.” In the 70s, their popularity exploded with songs like “So Very Hard to Go” and “What Is Hip?”, while touring the world and cementing their place as one of the most influential live bands of all time.
Despite decades of success, the band’s love for the stage remains as strong today as it was in 1968. Over the course of their impressive career, Tower of Power has not only surpassed Castillo’s original dreams – they have also collaborated with some of the greatest artists: Otis Redding, Elton John, Santana, Grateful Dead, John Lee Hooker, Aerosmith, Bonnie Raitt and many more. All the while, they have created their own “Oakland soul sound”.
The future of Tower of Power is as vibrant as ever. They continue to inspire, surprise and deliver – and we can count on an evening filled with the unmistakable groove that only Tower of Power can provide.
Age limit 13 years.
