The University of Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra is the core of a unique two-year Master’s degree programme in orchestra studies at the University of Gothenburg.

The orchestra forms the foundation for this Master’s degree programme for top-ranking students from all over Europe. The programme is organized in collaboration with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Göteborg Opera and the Opera unit at the university, in order to offer the basic repertoire of the professional orchestral musician.

The emerging German conductor Anja Bihlmaier holds the position of Erste Kapellmeisterin and Deputy Music Director at the Staatstheater Kassel. She has also made performances at the Staatsoper Hannover and conducted the Göttinger Symphonie Orchester, Odense Philharmonic Orchestra, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Bremer Philharmoniker, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Nordic Chamber Orchestra.
