Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 is solemn and melancholy, with folk tones and a stormy conclusion. The Västra Götaland Youth Orchestra take on a masterpiece. Conductor Andreas Hanson.
The spectacular first symphony by Gustav Mahler is called Titan. But it is not only full of grandeur. It also contains simple melodies and sorrowful sounds. Among other things, he picked up themes from jewish folk songs. The finale is the despair of a broken heart. It is a challenge for any orchestra to journey into Mahler’s rich world, but as always, VÄGUS takes on this classic with courage and passion. Attend yourself and experience the sound.
As musicians move on to other assignments, new people have the chance to become familiar with the VÄGUS life, with rehearsals, camp weekends and tours of the region. Auditions are held each year.
