Winner of the Polar Music Award in 2013, Youssou N’Dour is one of Africa’s greatest and most influential musicians. With his place in Senegalese music and culture firmly established, he is constantly on the lookout for new impressions and influences. His music originates from the popular music style Mbalax, a genre which Youssou N’Dour has played a large part in shaping. His latest album was released in the autumn of 2021 under the title Mbalax.
Youssou N’Dour has received many awards, including for his community involvement, and over the years he has collaborated with greats such as Peter Gabriel, Sting, Tracy Chapman, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Wyclef Jean and, of course, with Neneh Cherry on the mega hit 7 Seconds.
