Sometimes, gifted individuals emerge who love music so much that nothing can stop them. Such a talent is Daniel Lozakovich from Sweden, a 16-year-old violinist who has already performed as a soloist with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra and Valery Gergiev and has signed a recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon.

His first recording will be Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. Pretty impressive for a young man from Stockholm who started playing the violin at Lilla Akademien when he was six years old. When he had learned everything they could teach him, he continued under the tutelage of the internationally renowned violin teachers Josef Rissin in Germany and Eduard Wulfson in Switzerland.

When he comes to Gothenburg, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto will be on the programme.

In this context, conductor Klaus Mäkelä at 21 years old is an absolute veteran. He showed in his début with the Gothenburg Symphony that he is a force to be reckoned with: “Mäkelä really highlights the different accents, the very contrast between emotional performance and sincerity” wrote GP. With his feel for the overall perspective and his interest in Russian music, he was made to take on Shostakovich’s Tenth Symphony, a fascinating and powerful grotesque, containing as many windthrows as it does breathtaking vistas.
