Hillborg: The Sax Concerto

Enjoy the season opening from September 2026. We were thrown into the magical sound world of Swedish composer Anders Hillborg. Hear the world premiere of his new concerto for saxophone and orchestra. The soloist is the composer’s son, award-winning saxophone player Theo Hillborg.

Transcending genres, Principal Guest Conductor and violinist Pekka Kuusisto works with jazz and folk music, sound artists and jugglers. His artistic integrity and ability to play with tradition have made him famous around the world. In 2026 he was inaugurated in the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. In his second season in partnership with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, we can expect surprising changes and plenty of energy on stage.
