“The Phantom Carriage is the best film ever made”, said Charlie Chaplin, and it gave Ingmar Bergman a memory for life: “I was deeply shaken by the film, and was hit by its enormous power.”

With its themes of unconditional love, the brutality of poverty, and the trials of life for people on the edges of a society where death is ever-present, the film is highly current. In 2012, The Phantom Carriage was named the best Swedish film ever in film journal FLM’s critic’s vote. All-new music by Mats Larsson Gothe will be played live by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. In collaboration with Gothenburg Film Festival.
