Get to know the music.
The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra is led from the concertmaster seat by Sara Trobäck in a programme that unites classical Viennese clarity with romantic intensity. An elegant glow can be found here. Flute player and section leader Håvard Lysebo is soloist in Mozart’s beloved Flute Concerto No. 1. The concert concludes with Tchaikovsky’s passionate Souvenir de Florence, a work with dazzling lyricism and intensity.
Mozart’s Flute Concerto from 1778 is among the most-played works of the flute repertoire, and is known for its elegant style. It unites lightness, virtuosity and a melodic quality in a clearly classical style.
Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence was originally a string sextet composed during a trip to Italy in the summer of 1890, and soon thereafter it was adapted for string orchestra. We hear both Russian melancholy and Mediterranean warmth as the intimacy of chamber music is combined with symphonic power.
